China tones down Anti-US rhetoric
Posted by Stephen Cline on April 12th, 2010There are some indications that China is toning down its Anti-Us rhetoric. There was a time when China was flexing muscles, and also upping the ante against the US, assuming a larger than life global position and criticizing the US at every instance. Now that China is facing the heat economically and at the same time getting into delicate negotiations with the US, it seems to be toning down the Anti – US rhetoric that it has been seen to be indulging in the past. There have been indications that the Chinese side is going slow on its strident criticisms of US policy as well as financial concerns. The Chinese banking regulator was muted in his criticism about the US banking system and instead said that there was need for patience as well as team work, which is a clear departure from what was evident in the past.
Last year though, China had assailed the US saying that there was a need for a new world order, as well as it might stop buying US treasury notes, which is something that it is no longer indulging in. all of those raises questions as to why China is no longer seemingly belligerent about the US.
